oil marketing companies in Nigeria from 2013 to 2022. The study used ex post facto correlational
research design while, eleven (11) listed oil-marketing companies made up the population of the study.
The data was collected from the published financial statements of five sampled listed oil-marketing
companies. Using multiple regression analysis technique, the multiple regression results revealed that
firm size has positive but insignificant effect while gender diversity and board size has negative and
insignificant effects on sustainable financial performance; however, effective tax rate has positive
significant effects on sustainable financial performance of oil marketing firms. The study concluded
that corporate governance does not influence sustainable financial performance of listed oil marketing
firms in Nigeria, while tax planning influences sustainable financial performance of listed oil
marketing firms in Nigeria. Hence, it is recommended that firms need to employ the services of tax
